DC-L20011Product Details
The Ludell Opera Collection is a series of five leading ladies from famous operas by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini. These ornaments were created as a collaboration between Luca Dell'Innocenti (of Ludell) and Soffieria De Carlini. They are a wonderful tribute--and a great way to bring a bit of the opera home. So stunning, you'll surely want them all!
The opera Manon Lescaut was composed by Giacomo Puccini and was based upon the novel L’Histoire du chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut by the Abbé Prévost. The title character, while being escorted to a convent by her brother, meets and falls in love with a poor student. This opera depicts the highs and lows of their love story--even when she decides to pursue a "richer" life with a wealthy tax collector--to the end.
Manon Lescaut is decked out in lavish, rich purple velvet and gold. Her hooded cape is adorned with elaborate jeweled gold trim to match the gold brocade dress underneath. To complete her opulent appearance, her hair is intricately styled and bejeweled. She must be with that wealthy tax collector!
