Soffieria De Carlini, “Cogsworth” Grandfather Clock
DC-V3580Product Details
The name “Cogsworth” may refer to the gears that rotate to keep the time on a grandfather clock. This Italian free-blown ornament features a matte rosy paint for the clock’s paint and a reflective paint creates the “glass” effect so that one can view the pendulum as it swings back and forth. The clock’s “hands” almost create a mustache on our grandfather’s face. He’s an elegant French style antique timepiece.
Many will recognize this sweet character from “Beauty and the Beast”, a fairy tale story attributed to French novelist Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. He first published his fantasy tale in 1740. Many variations have followed throughout the years.
